Honestly the coolest astronomer I’ve ever seen. I’d love to meet him in person and just ask him questions all day. He’s so fun and animated and intelligent! He’s just a notch above Neil DeGrasse Tyson (the man who killed Pluto (Pluto fucking deserved it)) in my book :)

AH YES, some other people on Tumblr have love for Alex Filippenko too!! :)

PS: Neil DeGrasse Tyson would be at the same level had he not sided with Mike Brown and killed Pluto.

I saw my grandmother’s marriage certificate and it has my great grandfather’s place of birth as Portugal (more specifically Sao Miguel, Azores).  I thought it was weird because I always thought that it was my Great great grandparents that immigrated to the United States (I have her paperwork from Ellis Island dated back from the 1800’s).  Come to find out my great great grandmother had traveled to Portugal while she was 9 months pregnant and had him there.  

I miss them terribly, even though I never got to fully know my great grandfather.
